Player Evaluation and Placement Policy
Player Placement from tryouts
When there are sufficient available registered players, players will be evaluated with their age appropriate team as designated by US Soccer. Refer to the “Playing up” Policy for special considerations and exceptions. The general philosophy of team selection is to form teams based on skill level. The theory is that players will progress better and have a more enjoyable experience if playing with and against children of similar skills, characteristics and age.
Players will be invited to the team where coaches consider the player will benefit most in terms of growth and opportunity to play. In the event that there is no team available in the same age and level as the player, the following shall apply:
- If a team in an older age up to 2 years for players, not in High School age, is available, and the level (in terms of technical ability, game understanding, competitiveness and physical competence) is consistent with the players level, the player will be invited to that team.
- If teams in two different contiguous ages do not have enough players, the club will merge the two teams if it believes that the resulting environment will be beneficial to the players in the resulting team.
- If the potential formation of a team will not be conducive to learning, the Club will communicate with the families to evaluate potential options, or rescind the invitation and refund any paid fees, as needed.
Procedure
The team selection process will result from the club’s consideration of the following information:
- Prior player history with the Club
- coaches' feedback
- coaches' evaluation
- tryout results
- Any other information deemed appropriate by Club management and leadership
Placement after the Formation of Teams
A player attempting to join the club after tryout events and after teams have been form may be placed on any team at the discretion of club management based on the circumstances of the situation. Club management will consider the experience of the player, impact on the existing team dynamic, recommendation of the head coach, and results of any tryout evaluations.
The process for late arrivals is as follows:
- Zone Director must connect with all coaches in the age-group an let them know about potential addition.
- Player must train with every team in the age group, starting in with the development teams and going upwards
- After player has attended all practices director and coaches will meet to discuss placement
- Upon agreement invitation is sent (Connect with Luis for pro-rata fee, if applicable)by Zone Director
- Unless player is exceptionally above the
current players in the age-group, in the collective perception of the Coaches and Zone Director,
they will
not be invited to the most competitive team
